Briefs 2-Hiddink dismisses quit reports despite not signing deal
May 14 (Reutes) - Sports stories in brief from around the world.
Soccer - Russia coach Guus Hiddink dismissed media reports that he would quit following Euro 2008 after he admitted to only having a verbal agreement with the Russian FA to remain in the post until the 2010 World Cup.
It was reported in March that Hiddink had signed a new two-year contract but the Dutchman criticised FA president Vitaly Mutko for dragging out the contract negotiations.
"As I've said before many times I want to stay in this job. A hand-shake is good enough for me, but I'm still waiting on the contract," he told reporters. "I would prefer to sign it before Euro 2008 so I don't have to answer the same question there about my contract."
Soccer - Rangers were forced to open their stadium two hours earlier than planned for live televised coverage of the UEFA Cup final against Zenit St Petersburg due to huge demand.
The club opened the gates at 4pm on Wednesday with a Rangers spokesperson estimating 10,000 fans, many of whom camped overnight, queued outside Ibrox for the 25,000 capacity event.
