Soccer-Five goal Mifsud helps Malta rout Liechtenstein
TA' QALI, March 26 (Reuters) - Michael Mifsud scored five goals to inspire Malta to a 7-1 victory over 10-man Liechtenstein in a friendly on Wednesday.
In an action-packed opening 21 minutes, Mifsud converted two penalties either side of a tap-in.
To make matters worse for Liechtenstein they had defender Fabio D'Elia sent off for tripping the goalbound Etienne Barbara in the 21st minute. Jamie Pace netted Malta's fourth before striker Mifsud, who plays for English Championship side (second division) Coventry City, was on target again in the 59th and 69th minutes.
Defender Brian Said, a late substitute, added a seventh for Malta with four minutes left.
Franz Burgmeier grabbed a consolation goal for Liechtenstein in the 51st.
Neither team qualified for Euro 2008.
