Briefs 2-Banned Togo elect to play home game in Ghana
May 13 (Reuters) - Sports news in brief from around the world:
Soccer - Togo have elected to play their home World Cup qualifier against Zambia in neighbouring Ghana after being banned from hosting matches in their own country, the Togo Football Federation said on Tuesday.
Togo, who played at the 2006 World Cup in Germany, must host their next four competitive home fixtures outside their country after fans attacked Mali players last October following an African Nations Cup qualifying defeat in Lome.
Togo will start their bid for a second successive World Cup appearance against Zambia in Accra on May 31. They have yet to decide where they will host Swaziland, their other first round group opponents, in October.
Soccer - Alex Ferguson has been voted manager of the year in England after leading Manchester United to their 17th domestic title.
The 66-year-old, who claimed his 10th title with the club on Sunday, won the League Managers' Association vote, for the first time since 1999.
Soccer - Slavia Prague goalkeeper Radek Cerny has joined English Championship (second division) side Queens Park Rangers.
Cerny, who has been on loan at Premier League Tottenham Hotspur where he displaced England's Paul Robinson earlier this season, has agreed a two-year contract, QPR said on Tuesday. (Editing by Rex Gowar)
