* SOUTH OF BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier died from wounds sustained from "indirect fire", a term usually used to describe rocket or mortar fire, the U.S. military said.
BAGHDAD - Five people were wounded in clashes between Mehdi Army fighters and U.S. and Iraqi security forces in the Hay al-Amil area of southwestern Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed six insurgents in a response to an attack on coalition forces in southern Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military said.
BAGHDAD - Two bodies were found in different districts of Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - Coalition forces detained eight suspected militants during operations targeting al-Qaeda members in northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.
DOUR - A mortar round landed in a residential area, wounding four children in the town of Dour near Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed seven gunmen and arrested 20 others during operations in central and northern Iraq on Wednesday and Thursday, the U.S. military said in a statement. Continued...
