Golf-Jimenez fights jet lag at BMW International Open

MUNICH, June 18 (Reuters) - Miguel Angel Jimenez will fight jet lag on Thursday at the BMW International Open starting on Thursday after his sixth place finish at the U.S. Open last Sunday.
"I'm so jet-lagged that when the alarm went off this morning it was like being in my tomb," he told reporters on Wednesday.
"All of the majors take a lot out of you, especially when you are in contention.
"But it can make things happen for you, too. Just coming from the U.S. Open and finishing sixth can be a factor in this tournament."
Jimenez's performance at Torrey Pines virtually consolidated his Ryder Cup place in Nick Faldo's team for Valhalla against the United States after he claimed Europe's flagship PGA title last month to soar to the top of the order of merit.
"The order of merit has moved to be my goal now that the Ryder Cup is almost done. But I always say the same thing, you need to concentrate on the round and playing each week, not the end of the season," he said.
Swedish holder Niclas Fasth is not wholly convinced he will be able to find the form that enabled him to hold off a charging Bernhard Langer for the title last year.
Like Faldo, who won six major championships, Fasth is in the throes of changing his swing completely and he missed the cut at Torrey Pines to slip to 66th on Europe's money-list. Continued...
