 HOKKAIDO, Japan- Final day of G8 Summit. Leaders from 16
countries including the Group of Eight (G8), China, India,
Brazil, Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, South Africa and
Mexico will gather to discuss climate change on the sidelines of
the G8 summit. -

 PARIS ?- (TENTATIVE) Annual France-German summit - with leaders
from both countries.-
 
 MUNICH, Germany- Goal4Africa, a new charity fundraising scheme
where soccer fans donate money for every goal scored, kicks off
with a charity match. Goal4Africa will run for two years until
the FIFA World Cup in 2010.-
 
 SCHLESWIG, Germany- Horst Gorski, a senior cleric from Hamburg,
is standing for the post of bishop of Schleswig in northern
Germany against Gerhard Ulrich, a senior cleric from the
Schleswig area. Gorski is a widely respected theologan and he
helped set up a centre for gay and lesbian Lutheran pastors.
This election brings to Germany the question of gay clergy and
same-sex unions which has caused rifts in several countries and
faiths, including the Anglican community.-
