UPDATE 1-CIGNA names president and COO

NEW YORK, June 25 (Reuters) - CIGNA Corporation Inc (CI.N: Quote, Profile, Research) on Wednesday named David M. Cordani as president and chief operating officer of the health insurance company.

Cordani will be responsible for the company's group disability and life industry, and international businesses, according to a release. He will continue to oversee the company's CIGNA HealthCare unit, of which he has been president since July 2005.

Cordani, 42, has been with CIGNA since 1991. His prior roles have included overseeing health segments at CIGNA HealthCare, and controller of CIGNA Corporation.
