Feb 5 (Reuters) - LeapFrog Enterprises Inc (LF.N: Quote, Profile, Research), which makes educational toys, reported a preliminary quarterly loss citing a challenging consumer environment that was causing retailers to order cautiously.

The company now expects a fourth-quarter loss of 50 cents per share, on net sales of $184 million.

Analysts on average were expecting the company to post a loss of 25 cents a share, excluding exceptional items, on revenue of $170.83 million, according to Reuters Estimates. (Reporting by Swagata Gupta in Bangalore; Editing by Anthony Kurian)
