Aviva's Dutch joint venture with ABN AMRO ends
LONDON, May 20 (Reuters) - Britain's Aviva (AV.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Tuesday its Dutch bancassurance joint venture with ABN AMRO had been ended after it received notice the bank, taken over last year, planned to buy out the insurer's share of the venture.
Aviva said it had received notice that ABN, bought out by a consortium of banks last year, "intends to buy out (Dutch unit) Delta Lloyd's 51 percent of the venture".
It said the price would be determined "in the near future" but would include a penalty payment.
The bulk of ABN's operations in the Netherlands were bought by Fortis (FOR.BR: Quote, Profile, Research). (Reporting by Clara Ferreira-Marques)
