RBS gets over 95 pct backing for rights issue
LONDON (Reuters) - Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said over 95 percent of shareholders backed its proposed 12 billion pound rights issue in a vote on Wednesday.
RBS last month announced plans for its rights issue, the biggest ever, to cover losses taken on the value of risky assets and to repair one of the sector's most stretched balance sheets.
The bank said 95 percent of votes cast supported the rights issue, and 96 percent of votes cast supported a plan to pay the interim dividend in shares.
