BA says reviewing capacity, costs and network
LONDON, May 16 (Reuters) - British Airways Plc (BAY.L: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Friday it was reviewing capacity, costs and network against the backdrop of economic pressures and high fuel prices, as it met forecasts with a 45 percent rise in annual profit on Friday.
"The first quarter will be particularly difficult," BA said in a statement, noting the price of oil has doubled year-on-year.
BA said its pretax profit rose to 883 million pounds ($1.72 billion) in the year to end-March, on revenue up 3.1 percent to 8.75 billion pounds. It will pay a dividend of 5 pence, the first since 2001. (Reporting by Dan Lalor; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
