DETROIT, May 1 (Reuters) - U.S. auto sales fell 34.4
percent in April from a year earlier, according to data from
auto manufacturers on Friday. The following are highlights from
the largest carmakers in the U.S. market.
Overall industry
* Total light vehicle sales 819,540.
* Seasonally adjusted annualized sales rate 9.32 million vs
14.7 million a year earlier.
General Motors Corp
* Light vehicle sales down 33.7 percent (173,007).
* Year-to-date sales down 45.1 percent.
* Vehicle inventories at month-end: 742,000, down 74,000
vehicles from a year earlier.
* Cars/trucks: Car sales down 40.6 percent/light truck
sales down 27.7 percent.
* Key vehicles: Chevrolet Impala down 34.4 percent,
Chevrolet Malibu down 14 percent, Chevrolet Silverado down 29
percent, Chevrolet Tahoe up 0.3 percent, GMC Sierra down 37.3
percent.
* Incentives: average $4,063 per vehicle, up from $3,132 a
year earlier.
Toyota Motor Corp <7203.T>
* Vehicle sales down 41.9 percent (126,540).
* Year-to-date sales down 37.8 percent.
* Cars/trucks: Car sales down 42.3 percent, trucks down
41.2 percent.
* Key vehicles: Tundra down 53.9 percent, Camry down 36.7
percent, Prius down 61.5 percent, Corolla down 42.9 percent
* Incentives: averaged $1,648 per vehicle, up from $840 a
year earlier.
Ford Motor Co
* Vehicle sales excluding Volvo fell 31.4 percent
(129,898).
* Year-to-date sales down 40 percent.
* Inventories at month-end 474,000 vehicles, up from
461,000 a month ago.
* Cars/trucks: Car sales fell 28.8 percent, total truck
sales fell 33 percent.
* Key vehicles: F-Series fell 35.8 percent, Explorer fell
49.4 percent, Expedition fell 72.1 percent, Focus fell 51
percent, Fusion rose 21.7 percent.
* Incentives: averaged $3,636 per vehicle, up from $2,989 a
year earlier.
Honda Motor Co <7267.T>
* Vehicle sales down 25.3 percent (101,029).
* Year-to-date sales down 31.3 percent.
* Cars/trucks: cars down 18.2 percent, trucks down 36.3
percent.
* Key vehicles: Civic down 23.2 percent, Fit down 30.7
percent, Accord down 15.6 percent, Pilot down 21.1 percent,
Odyssey down 28.6 percent.
* Incentives: average $1,439 per vehicle, up from $1,405 a
year earlier.
Chrysler LLC [CBS.UL]
* Car and light truck sales down 48 percent (76,682).
* Year-to-date sales down 46 percent.
* Cars/trucks: Car sales down 29 percent, truck sales down
34 percent.
* Inventories at month-end 336,913 vehicles down 85,440
from April 2008.
* Key vehicles: Jeep Wrangler up 7 percent, Dodge Ram
pickup down 26 percent, Dodge Caliber down 71 percent.
* Incentives: average $4,288 per vehicle, up from $3,795 a
year earlier.
Nissan Motor Co Ltd <7201.T>
* Car and light truck sales down 37.8 percent (47,190).
* Cars/trucks: Cars down 35.6 percent, trucks down 37.4
percent.
* Key vehicles: Altima down 46.9 percent, Versa down 33.2
percent, Sentra down 46.1 percent, Titan down 45.6 percent,
Murano down 37.8 percent.
* Incentives: average $2,779 per vehicle, up from $1,796 a
year earlier.
