* BASRA - Militants fired two rockets at a water treatment plant in Basra, 550 km (340 miles) south of Baghdad, but failed to cause any damage, the British military in Basra said.
* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed 11 suspected al Qaeda militants and detained another 23 in separate operations in central and northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.
* BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed 9 militants in different battles in Baghdad, the U.S. military said.
MOSUL - Gunmen shot dead a civilian man in Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, an army operations spokesman for the northern region, Brigadier Khalid Abdul-Satar, said.
MOSUL - Iraqi police found a dumped body in the al-Hirmat neighbourhood of western Mosul, Abdul-Satar said.
BAGHDAD - Iraqi President Jalal Talabani's wife, Hero Ibrahim, escaped death when a bomb exploded near her convoy in Baghdad, the president's office said. She was not hurt but four bodyguards were wounded. Police said the bomb targeted an army patrol and had wounded two police and two civilians.
MOSUL - A man was killed and another wounded when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle in Mosul, police said. Continued...
