BAE LINKED TO ZIMBABWEAN ARMS DEALER
BAE Systems (BAES.L) paid at least 20 million pounds ($39.65 million) to a company linked to a Zimbabwean arms trader allied to President Robert Mugabe's regime, according to documents seen by the Financial Times.
British properties belonging to John Bredenkamp, a former supplier of military equipment to the Zimbabwean military, were raided by the Serious Fraud Office 18 months ago as part of an investigation into BAE's aircraft sales to South Africa.
The payment of at least 20 million pounds is the first detailed evidence of a financial relationship between Bredenkamp and the group.
