June 22 (Reuters) - Factbox on Mexico ahead of the Copa America:

PAST RECORD

* Runners-up: 1993, 2001

RECENT FORM

* Mexico have played 11 matches this year, up to and including the CONCACAF semi-final against Guadeloupe which they won 1-0 to set up a meeting with the United States in Sunday's final. They have lost to the United States, Honduras and Paraguay and won the other games.

COACH

* Hugo Sanchez is widely regarded as the finest player Mexico has ever produced. He spent much of his career with Real Madrid and was five-times leading scorer in the Spanish League.

* Sanchez's coaching career consists of two spells with Pumas UNAM and a very brief stint with Necaxa. He won two Mexican championships in his second stint with Pumas but resigned one year later after a string of bad results.

* During his Pumas coaching days, Sanchez repeatedly poured criticism on the Mexican federation and constantly criticised his predecessor and bitter personal rival Ricardo La Volpe.  Continued...
