PAST RECORD

* Winners: 1939, 1975.

RECENT FORM

* Peru have played nine friendlies since last August, winning two, drawing two and losing five. They have not played a competitive match since October 2005, when they beat Bolivia 4-1 in a World Cup qualifier.

COACH

* Julio Cesar Uribe took over earlier this year for his second stint in the job. His previous spell in charge, between September 2000 and November 2001, produced three wins, four draws and eight defeats.

* Uribe, known for his fiery temperament, was a sublimely gifted forward nicknamed the Black Diamond and played at the 1982 World Cup.
