June 22 (Reuters) - Factbox on Ecuador ahead of the Copa America:

PAST RECORD

* Ecuador's Copa America debut was relatively late, coming in the 1939 tournament in Peru. Their best finish was a fourth place in 1993, on the only occasion they hosted the event.

RECENT FORM

* Ecuador have won three, drawn two and lost four games since last year's World Cup finals, where they reached the last 16.

COACH

* Colombia's Luis Fernando Suarez replaced his compatriot Hernan Dario Gomez following their dismal showing at the previous Copa America in 2004.

* Suarez quickly put Ecuador back on the rails, leading them to the 2006 World Cup where they passed the group stage for the first time and lost to England in the last 16.
