BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand's Supreme Court issued an arrest warrant on Monday for former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and his wife after the couple skipped bail and went into exile in London.

"The court sees that the defendants have broken their bail terms. Therefore, it issues an arrest warrant and orders their bail bonds to be seized," a statement said.

Thaksin posted bail of 8 million baht (123,500 pounds) in February after returning from exile in London, where he had spent most of his time since he was ousted in a 2006 coup.
