Kidnapped Iranian diplomat freed in Iraq - agency

TEHRAN (Reuters) - An Iranian diplomat who was kidnapped in Iraq in February was released on Tuesday and is expected to return to Iran later in the day, Iran's official IRNA news agency reported.

"Jalal Sharafi, second secretary of Iran's embassy in Baghdad, who was kidnapped in Baghdad on February 4, was released on Tuesday and an informed source said he was returning to Tehran this afternoon," IRNA reported.

Iran had blamed the United States for the abduction.
