BANGALORE, Jan 12 (Reuters) - Human Genome Sciences Inc (HGSI.O: Quote, Profile, Research) forecast 2009 revenue above Wall Street estimates and reiterated that it expects to realize $150 million from the delivery of its inhalation-anthrax drug to the U.S. government, sending its shares up as much as 38 percent.

The biopharmaceutical company also provided timelines on when it anticipates filing for regulatory approval for several of its late-stage candidates.

"With major catalysts coming due in next 12 months, Human Genome is our top pick for small cap biotech in 2009," Stanford Group analyst Han Li said.

The bullish 2009 forecast and clinical goals project confidence, while the reiteration on the ABthrax timeline allays investor concerns, Li said.

The company had expected to receive authorization for ABthrax, which is being developed under a contract with the U.S. government, and begin delivery in the fall of 2008.

But in November, the company said it expected to recognize revenue from the drug only in 2009.

Human Genome is still awaiting authorization but said it was confident that it would deliver 20,000 doses of ABthrax to the U.S. Strategic National Stockpile early in 2009.  Continued...
