Nov 5 (Reuters) - Engineering simulation software maker Ansys Inc (ANSS.O) posted a quarterly profit that beat Wall Street expectations, helped by higher maintenance and services revenue and lower expenses, but forecast lower-than-expected fourth-quarter revenue.
"... we are still facing the realities of ongoing pressure on customer spending and prolonged sales cycles," the company said in a statement.
Ansys forecast fourth-quarter adjusted earnings of 47 cents to 49 cents a share on adjusted revenue of $136 million to $142 million.
Analysts were looking for earnings of 49 cents a share, excluding items, on revenue of $144.8 million, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S.
