BANGALORE, April 29 (Reuters) - Chipmaker Cavium Networks Inc (CAVM.O: Quote, Profile, Research) swung to a first-quarter loss, hurt by weakness in its enterprise and data center segments, and forecast a second-quarter loss.

The company, however, forecast a better-than-expected revenue for the second quarter, as it expects increased sales to its broadband and consumer markets.

"They have lower sales going to higher gross margin businesses such as enterprises, and higher sales going to lower gross margin businesses such as wireless routers for houses", Kevin Cassidy of Thomas Weisel Partners said on the outlook.

For the second quarter, the company expects adjusted loss per share of 1 cent to 3 cents before items, compared with analysts expectations of loss of 1 cent a share, according to Reuters Estimates.

The company expects revenue to be in the range of $21.5 million to $22.5 million, compared with analysts' expectations of $21.2 million.  Continued...
