June 10 (Reuters) - Mattress maker Tempur-Pedic International Inc (TPX.N) said it filed a lawsuit against a host of companies, including Sealy Corp (ZZ.N), alleging that the companies are violating its patent protecting the proprietary design and construction of its mattresses. The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
The company said it was issued a patent on March 24, which is directed to a variety of mattress constructions utilizing layers of visco-elastic and other foam materials, and grants it exclusive rights to make, use and sell products incorporating the inventions under the patent.
Companies named in the lawsuit include Sleep Products Inc, Classic Sleep Products Inc, Anatomic Global Inc, Bragada Inc and Jeffco Fibres Inc, Tempur-Pedic said in a statement. (Reporting by Amitha Rajan in Bangalore; Editing by Jarshad Kakkrakandy)
