April 29 (Reuters) - Communication and energy infrastructure provider MasTec Inc (MTZ.N) posted a 53 percent rise in quarterly profit, helped by a jump in revenue, but forecast second-quarter results below market estimates.
The company, which also cut its 2009 revenue outlook, posted first-quarter earnings of $11.9 million, or 16 cents a share, compared with earnings of $7.8 million, or 12 cents a share, a year ago.
Revenue rose to $342.1 million, from $262.0 million a year ago.
MasTec forecast second-quarter earnings of 22 cents to 24 cents a share, on revenue of about $375 million.
Analysts on average were looking for earnings of 26 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $453.4 million, according to Reuters Estimates. Continued...
