July 7 (Reuters) - Web security software provider Websense Inc (WBSN.O) forecast second-quarter profit in line with expectations but said its quarterly billings would see a drop, sending shares down 6 percent.
The company expects second-quarter billings, which represent the full amount of subscriptions billed to customers during the quarter, to drop about 6 percent to $82.2 million.
For the second quarter, the company expects to earn 30 cents to 32 cents a share, excluding items.
Analysts were estimating earnings of 30 cents a share, before items, according to Reuters Estimates.
"We experienced a greater impact from recessionary global economic conditions in the second quarter of 2009. The impact was concentrated primarily in our renewing Web filtering customers, especially outside the U.S.," Chief Executive Gene Hodges said in a statement. Continued...
