UPDATE 1-STEC Q1 profit jumps, sets Q2 view above Street

* Sees Q2 adj EPS $0.20-$0.22 vs est $0.10

* Sees Q2 revenue $68-$70 mln vs est $58.2 mln

May 11 (Reuters) - Stec Inc's (STEC.O) first-quarter profit jumped 61 percent, helped by higher shipments for its solid-state drives, and the flash memory storage products maker forecast second-quarter results above expectations, sending it shares up 20 percent in trading after the bell.

The company expects to earn between 20 cents a share to 22 cents a share, excluding items, in the second quarter, on revenue of $68 million to $70 million.

Analysts were expecting earnings of 10 cents a share, before special items, on revenue of $58.2 million, according to Reuters Estimates.

STEC also raised the sales forecast for the first half of 2009 for its ZeusIOPS solid-state drive to $65 million, up from an earlier projection of $53 million.  Continued...
