UPDATE 1-Excel Maritime says in two new time charter deals
* Says enters new charter agreements for two carriers * Says deals at profitable rates
Nov 10 (Reuters) - Dry-bulk carrier Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (EXM.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said it entered into two new charter agreements for its bulk carriers at profitable rates.
The company said its M/V Renuar carrier has entered into a charter agreement for 12 to 14 months at a gross daily rate of $22,500, while M/V Elinakos carrier is in a deal for four to six months at a gross rate of $25,000 per day.
"With these fixtures, our time charter coverage for the fourth quarter of 2009 has increased to approximately 70 percent of the remaining operating days of 2009 and 56 percent for 2010," Chief Financial Officer Lefteris Papatrifon said in a statement.
