UPDATE 1-Shanda Interactive Q1 profit tops Wall Street view

* Q1 net revenue rises 42 pct to $162 mln

June 2 (Reuters) - Top Chinese online-game operator Shanda Interactive Entertainment Ltd (SNDA.O) reported a quarterly profit that beat Wall Street estimates on a 47 percent jump in revenue from its multi-player online games.

For the first quarter, the company earned $52.8 million, or 78 cents per American Depositary Receipt (ADS). Revenue rose 42 percent to $162 million.

Analysts on average expected earnings of 73 cents per ADS, on revenue of $155.2 million, according to Reuters Estimates.

Shanda, which operates games where thousands of players compete in a virtual world, said active paying accounts for multi-player games rose 22 percent sequentially.

The Shanghai-based company's shares closed at $60.40 Tuesday on Nasdaq. (Reporting by Ashutosh Joshi in Bangalore; Editing by Vinu Pilakkott)
