UPDATE 1-Eclipsys Q1 profit beats Street, raises 2009 EPS view

* Q1 EPS $0.17 vs est $0.08

* Q1 revenue up 4.7 percent to $130.2

* Raises 2009 EPS view to 59-64 cents

* Shares up 12 percent after the bell

May 6 (Reuters) - Eclipsys Corp (ECLP.O) reported a better-than-expected quarterly profit and raised its 2009 earnings outlook, sending its shares up nearly 12 percent.

Increase in software license revenue and margin improvement in professional services helped first quarter results, a company executive said on a conference call with analysts.

The health information technology company posted a net loss of $0.9 million, or 2 cents a share, compared with a profit of $0.3 million, or 1 cent a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 4.7 percent to $130.2 million.

Excluding items, the company earned 17 cents a share. Analysts on average were expecting a profit of 8 cents a share, according to Reuters Estimates.  Continued...
