* Cuts 2009 rev outlook by $20 mln
April 28 (Reuters) - Business-software maker Parametric Technology Corp (PMTC.O) posted a 62 percent slump in quarterly profit and cut its revenue outlook for 2009, partly due to reduced customer spending on large deals.
"...we are continuing to experience longer lead times and reduced spending on large deals and our reseller channel continues to be impacted by soft end-market demand," CEO Richard Harrison said in a statement.
For the second quarter ended April 4, the company posted a profit of $7.2 million, or 6 cents a share, compared with $18.8 million, or 17 cents, a year ago. Excluding items, it earned 15 cents a share.
Total revenue fell 13 percent to $225.3 million.
Analysts were expecting profit of 8 cents a share, before items, on revenue of $226.3 million, according to Reuters Estimates.
Parametric expects 2009 revenue of $940 million, down from its previous view of $960 million. Analysts were expecting $960.4 million.
Shares of the Needham, Massachusetts-based company closed at $11.56 Tuesday on Nasdaq.
