India's NTPC to set up 2,640 MW power station

MUMBAI, Nov 9 (Reuters) - Leading Indian power producer NTPC (NTPC.BO) said on Monday it will set up a 2,640 megawatts (MW) thermal power plant in central India under a pact with the Madhya Pradesh state government and the MP Power Trading Co.

State-run NTPC will set up the project, which will have four 660 MW units, at Narsinghpur in Madhya Pradesh.

Financial details were not disclosed.

NTPC has a total installed capacity of 30,644 MW through 26 power stations, including joint ventures. The company currently has projects for 17,930 MW in capacity under construction. (Reporting by Pratish Narayanan; Editing by John Mair)
