UPDATE 1-Iran official to meet IAEA chief in Vienna - report
(Adds background, paragraphs 4-6)
TEHRAN, July 23 (Reuters) - The head of Iran's atomic energy organisation will meet Mohamed ElBaradei, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), in Vienna on Thursday, Iran's official IRNA news agency said.
IRNA, quoting what it called an informed source, said Gholamreza Aghazadeh and ElBaradei would "exchange views on the process of Iran's nuclear programme", without giving details.
Western powers suspect Iran is seeking to build atom bombs. The Islamic Republic says its nuclear programme is a peaceful drive aimed at generating electricity so that it can export more of its oil and gas.
The IAEA, the U.N. nuclear watchdog, said in a report in May Iran's alleged research into nuclear warheads remained a matter of serious concern and Tehran should provide more information on its missile-related activities. Tehran has dismissed the allegations.
Last month, six world powers offered Iran economic and other incentives in return for it suspending uranium enrichment, which the Islamic Republic has repeatedly refused to do.
Enriched uranium can provide fuel for power plants but also material for bombs if refined much more. (Reporting by Zahra Hosseinian; Editing by Ibon Villelabeitia)
