FRANKFURT, Nov 27 (Reuters) - German retailer Metro (MEOG.DE) is in talks to buy the the Privileg white goods brand from mail-order group Otto, the Financial Times Deutschland newspaper reported on Friday without citing any sources.

Otto bought rights to the brand from the insolvency pool that arose from Arcandor's (AROG.DE) going broke, and is seeking to pass them on, the paper said.

It said Metro was interested because it was trying to boost sales of own-brand products, whose margins are higher.

The FTD quoted an Otto spokesman as saying the company was reviewing whether to keep the brand rights or license them out, adding the rights would not be sold outright.

Metro was not available for comment.
