-- Partly private Eximbank continued raising interest rates on short-term dong deposits but cut the rates on dollar deposits with terms longer than six months to six percent per year, given rising dollar funds.

-- State-run Vietinbank said it has set aside 2 trillion dong ($122 million) for loans to Vietnamese businesses to purchase rice in this summer-autumn crop.

-- The central bank has banned banks from charging clients additional lending fees but many banks dodged the ban by asking clients to pay a security before receiving the whole loan.
