StanChart shares up after results

HONG KONG (Reuters) - Shares in Standard Chartered (STAN.L)(2888.HK) rose 4.4 percent on Thursday after the bank reported forecast-beating first-half earnings as its growth in Asia continued to outpace that in western economies.

The stock of the emerging market-focused bank was set to open at HK$234 in Hong Kong, up HK$9.8.

Credit headwind

News headlines speak of recovery, but financing is still a big problem in Germany. The dearth of credit to tide firms over is frustrating policymakers, who are blaming reluctant banks and there is little agreement on how best to increase lending flows.  Full Article
