FACTBOX - Security developments in Afghanistan

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Afghanistan as of 10:30 a.m. British time on Wednesday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* HELMAND - A British soldier from NATO's International Security Assistance Force was killed and two were wounded while fighting Taliban insurgents in the Kajaki district of southern Helmand province on Tuesday, the British defence ministry said.

* HELMAND - Five Taliban fighters were killed in a clash with Afghan forces in another area of the province on Tuesday, police said. Two soldiers were wounded in the clash, they said.

* URUZGAN - In neighbouring Uruzgan, three Taliban fighters were killed on Tuesday in a clash with police, an official said.

MAIDAN WARDAK - U.S.-led coalition troops killed "several" Taliban insurgents during a search in the Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak province, southwest of Kabul on Tuesday, a U.S. military statement said. Afghan intelligence sources said five Taliban insurgents, including two commanders, were killed in the raid.

NANGARHAR - A remote-controlled roadside bomb killed a district police chief on Wednesday in the eastern province of Nangarhar, a provincial official said.

Even as authorities try to stamp out that con and other e-mail and online scams, scammers are getting more wily and finding new loopholes to exploit. The vast majority of e-mail is spam and an unknown percentage of that is meant to defraud.
