FACTBOX - Security developments in Iraq

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 12:30 p.m. British time on Friday.

* denotes new or updated items.

* TALLIL - A Romanian soldier was killed and five others were severely wounded in an explosion while they patrolled next to their base in Tallil, near the southern town of Nassiriya, the Romanian Ministry of Defence said.

* KIRKUK - A roadside bomb killed a soldier and a policeman and wounded a civilian in central Kirkuk, 250 km north of Baghdad, police said.

DIYALA PROVINCE - One U.S. soldier was killed in Diyala Province on Thursday by an explosion near his vehicle. Another soldier was wounded, U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed one gunman and detained eight others during several operations on Friday targeting al Qaeda leaders in central Iraq, the U.S. military said.

ISKANDARIYA - Several mortar bombs killed one person and wounded three others in Iskandariya, 40 km south of Baghdad, police said.

YUSUFIYA - Three bodies were found with gunshot wounds and torture signs in Yusufiya, 25 km south of Baghdad, police said.

HAWIJA - Three people were wounded by several roadside bombs placed by insurgents targeting a deserted house belonging to the previous police chief in Hawija, 70 km southwest of Kirkuk, police said.  Continued...
