KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 15 (Reuters) - Malaysia will bring forward a review of gas prices in line with a drop in oil prices, a newspaper reported on Thursday quoting a government minister.

Energy Minister Shaziman Abu Mansor said the Economic Planning Unit, a government agency, would conduct a review and propose a new gas price to his ministry.

"In view of the declining price of oil and calls by the industry players for a review of gas prices, the ministry has pushed for a review of the price of gas that (state oil firm) Petronas sells to the power sector," Shaziman was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.

"This would also enable a review of the electricity tariff in the near future."

The gas price review was earlier planned for June, to take effect on July 1.
