LONDON (Reuters) - A convicted sex offender has been jailed for life on Friday for the murder and rape of Polish student Angelika Kluk, whose body was found underneath the flooboards of a Glasgow church.

Handyman Peter Tobin, 60, will serve a minimum 21 years after being found guilty at Edinburgh High Court.

The body of Kluk, 23, was found bound and gagged beneath the floor of St Patrick's Catholic church in Glasgow after several days' search by police last year.

She had suffered severe head injuries and multiple stab wounds.

Kluk had been living in the chapel house in return for carrying out some cleaning duties while she saved money for her studies back home in Gdansk.

She had known Tobin and had helped the handyman out with odd jobs around the grounds.

He had denied the charges.

Kluk's sister, Aneta, said after the sentencing that the family were relieved "that the man responsible for Angeliak's death is now likely to spend the rest of his days behind bars".

Detective Superintendent David Swindle, of Strathclyde Police, said in a statement: "This has been a traumatic ordeal for all those connected with Angelika.

"I have no doubts that this will live with them for the rest of their lives, but hopefully this has brought some closure."

This Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) computer screen image shows an online forum called "Dark Market" where it educates users where to buy skimming devices to penetrate bank accounts, how to distribute malware through spam, and buy stolen credit cards among other things. Even as authorities try to stamp out that con and other e-mail and online scams, scammers are getting more wily and finding new loopholes to exploit. The vast majority of e-mail is spam and an unknown percentage of that is meant to defraud.
