Solskjaer undergoes surgery
OSLO (Reuters) - Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer underwent knee surgery at a Norwegian hospital on Monday and will miss Norway's Euro 2008 qualifying match against Group C rivals Hungary on Wednesday, a team doctor said.
"He had swelling and intermittent locking (of the joint) so he was operated on this morning in Oslo," Norway's team doctor, Thor Einar Andersen, told Reuters.
"There were no complications with the operation, and he is now fine," said Andersen, who was present for the surgery but did not perform it.
"Hopefully he will be back in full training in some weeks."
He said surgeons removed some cartilage from Solskjaer's right knee and took down the swelling.
Solskjaer, 34, sat out Norway's 4-0 qualifying victory over Malta on Saturday but, until just a few days ago, he had been hoping to play against Hungary.
Andersen said the rest of the Norway side would be fit for Wednesday's match in Oslo.
Norway have 10 points from six games in Group C, level on points with Bosnia, three behind Turkey and five behind leaders Greece.
Solskjaer has missed much of the last three seasons with injury but returned to play a part in Manchester United's English premier league winning title side last season.
