LONDON (Reuters) - Police said on Sunday they were treating as suspicious the deaths of two young children found dead in a south London home.

One of the children was a baby aged less than six months, Scotland Yard said. The other was under six years old.

Their bodies were discovered in Thornton Heath on Saturday after police arrested a man in his sixties and a woman in her twenties.

The pair had been involved in an unspecified incident with a young girl in the street nearby.

The girl was taken to hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

Post mortems on the two children will be held on Monday at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

The arrested adults remain in custody at south London police stations.
