EMI picks Reckitt's Leoni-Sceti to head music unit
LONDON (Reuters) - EMI has appointed Elio Leoni-Sceti, a senior executive from household cleaning products maker Reckitt Benckiser (RB.L), as chief executive of its recorded music division, it said on Monday.
EMI said that, as a result of the appointment, Chairman Guy Hands would be stepping back to a non-executive function.
Hands' private equity group Terra Firma TERA.UL bought EMI for 3.2 billion pounds, including debt, last year.
Leoni-Sceti, 42, was born and educated in Rome and started his career in 1988 as a brand manager at Procter & Gamble (PG.N) before moving to Reckitt in 1992.
From 2001 to 2005 he was head of category development at Reckitt, leading the company's innovation, product pipeline, global marketing and media and, since 2005, he has been the group's head of Europe, a 3 billion pound business.
