June 8 (Reuters) - Review of key decisions in Sunday's Euro 2008 Group B match between Germany and Poland, as assessed with the benefit of video replays.

4th - Poland protest for an offside decision as Michael Ballack's through ball puts two German strikers, Miroslav Klose and Mario Gomez, clear to shoot on goal. Klose squares to Gomez, who unbelievably misses an open goal from close range.

Replays show the referee was right not to blow his whistle. Gomez is in an offside position when Ballack plays the ball through but he leaves it to Klose who runs from an onside position.

20th - Lukas Podolski opens the scoring for Germany from a square ball by Klose who runs clear from a Gomez through ball. Klose and Podolski look suspiciously offside when they receive the ball.

Replays show Podolski was level with Klose and therefore not offside but the through ball from Gomez to Klose is less clear cut. The camera angles do not establish clearly whether Klose is level with the last defender or marginally offside.

62nd - Poland forward Ebi Smolarek gets clear through the German defence and strikes the post with goalkeeper Jens Lehmann beaten. As Smolarek puts the rebound into the net, he is given offside. The video replay shows he was just fractionally offside when the ball is passed to him.
