Winehouse leads Mojo nominations

LONDON (Reuters) - Soul songstress Amy Winehouse is leading the nominations for this year's Mojo music awards.

The north London soul singer has received three nominations -- song of the year for her hit track "Rehab", best album for her second release "Back to Black" and best live act.

Previously named as Mojo magazine's "Woman of the Year", Brit award winner Winehouse has been topping the charts on both sides of the Atlantic.

In the song of the year category, the singer -- who has gained a reputation for heavy drinking, smoking and blunt speaking -- is up against previous Mojo nominees Guillemots, The Gossip, The View and Arctic Monkeys.

Arctic Monkeys are also nominated for best live act alongside Winehouse, Arcade Fire, The Stooges and The Who.

Legendary artists Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash are also up for awards.

Phil Alexander, Mojo's editor-in-chief, said: "This year the nominees really do reflect the very best in modern music.

"Previous awards bashes have seen everyone from James Brown to the Jesus And Mary Chain recognised, and -- trust me -- this year's line-up with be equally varied, iconic and inspired.  Continued...

House prices to creep higher
