"X Factor" winner Lewis stays on top
LONDON (Reuters) - "X Factor" winner Leona Lewis's domination of the British music scene shows no sign of ending after she topped both the single and album charts for a fourth week, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.
The 22-year-old singer, from Hackney in east London, held off all challengers in both charts with her single "Bleeding Love" -- now number one for seven weeks -- and album "Spirit".
T2's dance track "Heartbroken" featuring Jodie Aysha stayed at two for a third week while Girls Aloud and "Call the Shots" was a non-mover at three for a second week.
American pop diva Mariah Carey made an impressive showing with "All I Want For Christmas is You" climbing 15 places to number eight while a re-release of "Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues featuring the late Kirsty MacColl rose from 33 to 12.
Lewis triumphed in last year's "X Factor" television talent show and her single "A Moment Like This" was the 2006 Christmas number one. Bookmakers are tipping current "X Factor" contestant Rhydian Roberts to take that spot this year.
As with the singles chart there were no new entries in the top 10 of the albums chart.
Reformed boy band Westlife's "Back Home" yo-yoed up to two, having fallen one place to three the previous week, swapping places with the 2005 "X-Factor" champion Shayne Ward and "Breathless".
Kylie Minogue's first album in four years lost momentum as "X" dropped from four to five after making its debut in the charts last week.
"X" is the 39-year-old Australian singer's first album since she returned from her 2005 fight against breast cancer.
