FACTBOX-Three scary tales
LONDON (Reuters) - Authors Jennifer Westwood and Jacqueline Simpson have compiled a guide to England's ghosts.
Here are three of the tales:
1) PHANTOM WEDDING PARTY, Armboth Hall, Lake District
- Many years ago, a wealthy family prepared for their daughter's marriage on October 31. Older neighbours warned that no good could come of a wedding on Halloween.
- Just before the big day, a man brought news that the bride had been murdered and her body dumped in a lake near the house.
- The family abandoned the home. Years later, neighbours saw lights from the deserted mansion and heard the clatter of crockery and music on Halloween. Peering through the windows, they saw a long table set for guests, although no one was there.
- Some say the ghost of the dead bride emerged from the lake to join the ghostly wedding feast.
