Official concerned about possible new foot and mouth outbreak
LONDON (Reuters) - The Chief Veterinary Officer said on Friday that there were concerns about a possible further outbreak of foot and mouth disease south-west of London, beyond a surveillance zone set up around a previous outbreak.
Debby Reynolds said tests had not yet been carried out and emphasised that there were only "mild clinical signs of infection".
However, if confirmed it would mark a spread of the disease that the farming industry had hoped had been contained.
