EU executive says Microsoft fine "legally sound"
BRUSSELS (Reuters) - The European Commission is confident a record 899 million euro (713 million pounds) fine it imposed on Microsoft (MSFT.O) is legally sound, a spokesman for the EU executive said on Friday.
"The Commission is confident that its decision to impose the fine is legally sound," the spokesman said.
He was responding to the U.S. software's decision earlier to appeal against the fine imposed by Brussels for using high prices to discourage software competition.
