LONDON (Reuters) - The owners of German publisher Springer Science & Business Media are considering a bid approach for Informa (INF.L), which is in merger talks with United Business Media (UBM.L), the Daily Telegraph said.

The newspaper said on Tuesday that private equity firms Candover and Cinven, which own Springer Science, were in the early stages of examining a possible bid.

"They are taking a look, but it is very early days," it quoted one person familiar with the matter as saying.

Informa confirmed on Sunday it was in talks with UBM about creating a 3 billion pound-plus media company.

None of the parties could immediately be reached for comment.
