NAIROBI (Reuters) - Kenya's opposition called on Friday for police to provide security for a mass rally next Wednesday in central Nairobi to protest against President Mwai Kibaki's disputed re-election.

"We shall be holding a public meeting on Wednesday at Uhuru Park Grounds starting at 10 a.m. Due to the large number of people expected we request the police to provide us with security," said a statement signed by Orange Democratic Movement secretary general Anyang' Nyong'o.
